Brighton Science is excited to announce a major upgrade to the performance check routine across its entire Surface Analyst product line—including legacy handheld devices. This enhancement brings faster, more reliable calibration verification to all users, offering reduced process time, improved consistency, and a streamlined experience across handheld, desktop, and automated systems.
This breakthrough is the result of a close collaboration between Brighton’s software, mechanical, and data science engineering teams. Their combined expertise enabled a holistic redesign of the performance check process, incorporating new software logic, improved hardware usability, and data-driven calibration enhancements.
The new performance check routine leverages enhanced software and redesigned calibration cards with embedded QR codes, delivering:
“This isn’t just a tweak—it’s a leap forward in customer experience,” said Andy Reeher, CEO of Brighton Science. “By collecting and analyzing telemetry data from connected devices through BConnect, we transformed how performance checks are conducted across all devices, improving speed and reliability. That means better data, less downtime, and more value for every Surface Analyst user—including those using legacy systems.”
The upgrade reflects Brighton Science’s commitment to continuous improvement and the enduring strength of its core technology.
“Our Ballistic Deposition technology has always set us apart,” said Dr. Giles Dillingham, Founder and Chief Scientist at Brighton Science. “It’s gratifying to see how this foundation continues to support innovation. Every iteration makes our tools more precise, more consistent, and more impactful for our customers.”
Customers will receive the new calibration cards during their next scheduled instrument calibration. Software updates are available now, and the new routine will automatically activate once the updated cards are in use. Legacy handheld users will benefit from the same advancements first made available to BConnect users, thanks to data-informed engineering that enables backward compatibility.
Calibrations for customers in Europe will continue to be handled through our partner Innotech Marketing und Konfektion. Customers elsewhere may schedule calibrations directly through the Brighton Science online store, and support is available to guide you through the process.
