New eBook Provides Framework for Benchmarking Surface Preparation Excellence Across Manufacturing Sectors

Brighton Science, the global leader in surface intelligence and adhesion process control, has announced the release of an important new resource for manufacturers: the Surface Intelligence Maturity Model. This model, outlined in a newly published eBook, gives organizations a structured way to evaluate and improve their surface preparation processes using real-world insights and proven practices.

The Surface Intelligence Maturity Model is designed to help manufacturers—from aerospace and automotive to medical devices and electronics—benchmark their current capabilities and identify actionable steps to improve product quality, reduce waste, and strengthen supplier collaboration.

“This is a leadership moment for Brighton Science and the industries we serve,” said Andy Reeher, CEO of Brighton Science. “Our Surface Intelligence Maturity Model reflects years of experience partnering with manufacturers to identify the causes of critical bonding and cleaning challenges and apply that insight to lower costs and improve quality. By sharing this framework, we’re giving companies the tools they need to transform their approach to surface control—from reactive to proactive, from a culture of troubleshooting to making intelligence about surfaces a competitive advantage.”

The maturity model categorizes manufacturers into five stages of surface intelligence, based on their people, processes, and technology. It shows how companies evolve from relying on vendor guidance to building internal expertise and leveraging real-time data across global operations.

“This model allows engineering and management teams to evaluate where they stand within the competitive landscape of new product development and sustained product quality,” said Aaron Berding, Global Applications Director at Brighton Science. “It not only highlights where a company stands today but also shows them the most direct path to improvement. We’ve seen how transformative it can be when surface quality becomes a strategic advantage instead of a hidden variable.”

The release of the eBook is part of a larger campaign that includes a webinar series, interactive self-assessment tools, and anonymized benchmarking data drawn from Brighton Science’s extensive customer base. The goal is to accelerate improvement across the entire manufacturing ecosystem.
